
Anthony David Gonzalez was born on February 27, 1976 in Torrance, California. Gonzalez was born in the southern part of California. He was a student at Huntington Beach High School and was a top football and basketball player. Gonzalez excelled in these sports during his time at the University of California. He was instrumental in leading the football team to the 1996 Aloha Bowl. There, he set a school record for receptions with nine and set it again. The following year, Gonzalez helped lead the basketball team to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA basketball tournament. He left college to participate in the 1997 NFL Draft. The Kansas City Chiefs chose Gonzalez as their number thirteen overall. Gonzalez was a player for the Chiefs from 1997 to 2008. Gonzalez was transferred to the Atlanta Falcons. After Gonzalez's first NFL year, he caught not less than 59 of them every season.
